Australian operator Crown has been given the go-ahead to expand the casino offering at the Burswood Entertainment Complex by the government of Western Australia.

The move will see the number of gaming machines increase from 1,750 to 2,000 and tables increase from 170 to 220.

Burswood has agreed to pay a fee of $20m and has agreed that the tax rate on the additional electronic gaming machines will progressively increase from 22 per cent to 27 per cent over the next five years. The operator will now seek approval from the Western Australian Gaming and Wagering Commission.

In addition to investing in new equipment, Burswood is also planning to enhance and expand its VIP gaming and accommodation facilities, expand its local gaming capacity and establish new bars and restaurants.
