Although Clarion Events is making no official comment yet, we have learned that the ICE Totally Gaming organisers have seized the high ground in the run-up to the opening of the Japanese market to legalised casinos.

Tokyo

The London-based company is thought to be about to release news of a Japanese gaming conference, almost certainly to be held in Tokyo, and within a few days of the opening of Asia’s premier gaming event, G2E in Macau (May 20-22, 2014) Our information is that the event will be held at the end of the previous week, May 14-16.

We have no information at this moment on the precise location of the event, but insiders have revealed that the company has ring-fenced some of the principal speakers likely to be involved in the Japanese casinos project, including financiers and legislators.

Last week the Japanese Parliament, the Diet, saw a bill lodged for formal legislation on major resort casinos opening in the country. That legislation would be brought for consideration early in the new year after the Christmas recess.

Clarion is no stranger to organising major conferences in fresh territories. Two weeks ago it organised such an event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to consider the regulation of online betting in the country for the upcoming Olympics and World Cup.
