A new type of lottery that has been started by a Lincolnshire nursery owner is taking off all across the UK county.

Nicola Holt, from Coningsby, started the lottery to give parents an opportunity to win free childcare and already 200 nurseries from across the county have joined in the scheme.

Nursery Jackpot took three years in the planning and a pilot scheme with her Little Acorns Nursery in Coningsby last year and the first official draw was made last month.

Nicola and her friend, Emma Dickens, the managing director of the lottery, which is registered as a prize draw, want to take the project nationwide.

Lincolnshire now has around 4,500 players in the game, which is designed to help fund nurseries. The top prize is a year of nursery placement.

There are three prize winners each month, with the top prize a year's nursery placement, second is a three-month placement and third is a £500 voucher.
