David Simpson is step down from his role as chairman of Aristocrat Leisure after six years and will retire as a director. The company announced that Simpson's successor will be appointed towards the end of 2010.
Meanwhile, Penny Morris and Bill Baker are also to retire from the board following the company’s annual general meeting this month.
"My decision to step down later this year along with Mrs Morris and Mr Baker’s retirement are consistent with the company’s interests in ensuring appropriate board renewal," said Simpson. "On behalf of the board, I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Penny Morris and Bill Baker. Both have provided meritorious service to the company over an extended period of time. We wish them both well and thank them for their significant contributions."
Dr ID Blackburne and SW Morro were recently nominated at directors’ elect as part of Aristocrat’s ongoing process of board renewal.
Simpson continued: "The board considers that these retirements and the anticipated new appointments will allow us to continue to refresh the board by bringing additional experiences and new perspectives, especially in respect of the critical US market."
