Two Las Vegas Strip properties - Imperial Palace and O'Sheas - are to be transformed as part of Caesars Entertainment's ambitious plans to develop a $550m retail and entertainment district.
At the centre of the new 200,000sq.ft attraction, which is to be named The Linq, will be a giant observation wheel larger than any other in the world. The project will link Harrah’s Las Vegas resort, the Flamingo, and Imperial Palace hotel, completely transforming the façade, casino and hotel reception areas of the latter.
O’Sheas, which is also owned by Caesars, will cease to exist in its present form but may be relaunched elsewhere as part of the new complex.
Caesars estimates that The Linq will create around 1,500 permanent jobs once open.
"We are enhancing the allure of the resort experience in a coveted location, introducing an exciting new offering not only for guests occupying our own 24,000 Las Vegas hotel rooms, but also for all who live in and visit Las Vegas," said Gary Loveman, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Caesars Entertainment. "The Linq is going to be the new address for fun at the centre of the Las Vegas Strip."
