A bill was filed last week which, if passed, could legalise casinos in the US state of Texas.
The bill would need 100 “solid” votes in the 150-member House to move forward as a constitutional amendment – necessary to allow casinos in the state. The bill also needs a Senate sponsor, which it does not yet have.
Democrat Joe Deshotel, who filed the bill, said: “There’s been a gambling bill just about every session.” He concedes that passage of the bill is “an uphill battle.”
