Grainne Hurst, the CEO of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has penned an op ed on the BGC website, calling on the UK’s gambling minister, Baroness Twycross, to join her in visiting a high street betting shop.

Hurst (pictured) stated that, while betting and gaming was a popular pastime in the UK, it is often misunderstood and drew scorn “from some MPs and select quarters of the media.”
Since her appointment last summer, Twycross has visited the Hippodrome Casino in London and bet365’s HQ in Stoke, but Hurst suggested a visit to a high street casino would “demonstrate that the Government is determined to support a vital part of our high street retail industry.“
“We want to support the Chancellor and play our part in the Government’s growth agenda. But if ministers really want to see growth, they have to will the means,” she declared.
