The second South East European Gaming Expo opened on Tuesday against a backdrop of political unrest in the Serbian capital, Belgrade.
As world leaders came down on both sides of the fence in the furore surrounding Kosovan independence, Serbia staked a claim as one of the region’s emerging gaming markets.
The only obstacle appears to be a lack of regulation. In his show opening address, Novomatic’s Jens Halle said Serbia had 21,000 legal gaming machines but a possible 70,000 more operating outside the law.
