After initially pushing back the vote on a parkland reclassification bill needed for Bally’s New York casino licence application, the New York City Council approved the bill in a Wednesday vote.

Council members previously delayed the vote because the project did not have enough votes to pass before New York Mayor Eric Adams formally supported the bill.
Mayoral support allows the council to advance a bill with a lower number of supportive votes, resulting in its passage.
The approval clears the way for the bill to appear before the state Senate and Assembly.
Bally's is racing against the clock with the project, as the Bronx parkland needs to be reclassified before the New York downstate casino application deadline of June 27.
