The group that drafted a bill to legalise casinos in Japan plans to get it passed by the Diet during this session.

The bill has received more support since casino advocate Toshihiro Nikai was appointed as secretary general of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
The party’s ruling coalition partner, Komeito, is wary of casinos, but a senior party official believes it could be persuaded to support legalising them, Japan News said.
