Positive sales figures for slot machines in North America are reported by the influential Fantini Gaming Report in the US.
Growth of 6.4 per cent, or about 17,000 machines, is reported for the US and Canada in the second quarter of 2016. This compares favourably with the same period last year.
The Fantini Report figures come from another report, by Eilers and Krejcik Gaming, which showed that "new and expansionary" machine figures grew by 28.8 per cent to 3,212 and replacement machine sales rose 2.5 pert cent to 14,500. The figures do not take account of VLTs.
The report forecasts growth of 1.1 per cent to 68,000 machines for the complete year and also predicts that 726 new table games will go into the market this year, 529 next year and 557 in 2018.
