Early on day one of the show, Novomatic's director of communications, David Orrick, said he didn't know what to expect of G2E 2011.
"With the new venue and the new time, this is very much a transitional year for the show," he told InterGaming. Novomatic, as befits a company of its size and influence had a major stand at the exhibition.
The Austrian giant is represented in North America by Real Games. "They are doing a super job and it is a very successful partnership that is now in its third year," said Orrick. "Further licences and approvals are currently under discussion and we look further to continued expansion in the North American market."
He added that two concepts that have been around for a while were now coming to prominence - community gaming and tournament play. "There seems to be a whole new sense of excitement about these concepts and they are taking off all over the region."
