G2E

The Global Gaming Expo (better known as G2E) opened its doors at the Sands Convention Center, Las Vegas, on September 24 for a three-day run which attracted over 25,000 gaming professionals from all over the world to an event which was 10 per cent larger than last year.

The world’s largest gambling industry event, G2E 2013 had 455 companies from all sectors of the market and 125 of them were new to the show. Thirty-two countries are represented among the exhibitors, including Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, South Africa, Taiwan and the UK.

The key undercurrent of the show was the industry’s preparations for the advent of online gambling in the US market. With only Nevada up and running – although New Jersey is almost ready – the real accent is on the succession of other jurisdictions which will certainly follow in due course.

How the established and traditional market will handle that is not immediately clear. While plenty of specialist i-gaming product suppliers were in evidence, most of them were waiting for the market to fully open, while all of the traditional casino slots and tables suppliers were hedging their bets with online product portfolios.

TCS John Huxley showcased its latest product portfolio at G2E, with an emphasis on leading edge technology. Having spent the past 12 months investing in infrastructure, the company is now delivering the first stage of its strategic plan. “2012 was a significant year for us,” said group CEO Cath Burns. “We’ve positioned for growth, we’ve listened to our customers and we’ve invested in our infrastructure, our products and our people. This puts us in a good position as a company for growth.”
