It will take at least three more months for the Brazilian Senate to finally debate the bill that seeks to legalise the gambling industry in the country.

The project will have to be first addressed by the Constitution and Justice Committee of the Upper House. The bill will have to be discussed by the members of the CCJ in February, expected to reach the floor for debate only in April, according to media reports in Brazil.

The project had been unanimously approved by the Special Committee of National Development back in November. However, the text was rerouted to the CCJ blocking its way to the floor, with a new speaker yet to be appointed.
