Yggdrasil is renowned as a puncher way above its weight in the slots game. Perhaps, iNTERGAMINGi editor Matt Chambers mused in the company’s swanky screening room, that’s down to eating too many pastizzi.

(Ok, he – I – didn’t really think that. But the key point of this illogical analogy is, Yggdrasil’s pastizzi taste amazing. It’s a message worth sending.)

Flights of fantasy have powered Yggdrasil’s first-ever licensed title, Nitro Circus.

The product of a link-up between like-minded innovative companies, the action sports brand led by stunt daredevil Travis Pastrana had a simple brief for their slot: Make a cool game and represent what we are.

The assembled press, some flown in to the firm’s smart Malta offices for a sneak preview of the upcoming game which is to be launched in November, were shown exactly how Yggdrasil’s team fulfilled that goal with a stylish game 12 months in the making.

Chief studio manager Christopher Mifsud and head of slots Jonas Strandman described the game’s genesis and mechanics in great detail.

However, the first rule of the Nitro Circus slot is, don’t talk about the Nitro Circus slot’s superb, innovate bonus game featuring various modes of transport including flying sofas and bathtubs. So I won’t do that.

After the game had been shown and explained, there was a question and answer session (“can I have another pastizz?”) allowing journalists to delve further within some creative minds.

Next, it was back to braving Malta’s roads system. Ahead of Nitro Circus’s BMX riders Todd Meyn and Kurtis Down performing at the launch event, there was a death-defying display en route to the venue as a series of Maltese drivers performed their own unique signature moves.

Nerves eased by a bottle or three of local beer and waistline further expanded by Yggdrasil chef Ivan’s barbecue fare, it was then time to take in the impressive stunts of Todd and Kurtis, followed up by the Slots Shot tournament in which Yggdrasil clients battled for top honours within the Nitro Circus bonus game.

It would be a major surprise were the Nitro Circus slot not to prove a major hit, ahead of it going live for players.

In the meantime, does anyone know if you can fly in pastry products to the UK? Asking for a friend.
