What do Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Wild Bill Hickok, Wyatt Earp and Henry Gondorf all have in common? No it's not that they were all founding members of the first Katy Perry fan club (Gondorf the obvious odd one out there). It is of course a serious love of gambling and a more than passing interest in facial hair – at least on themselves.

Movember

It's Movember again folks, "season of wisps of hairy beautifulness, well groomed friend of the maturing man" as Keats meant to say, so I ask you all, particularly the gentlemen of the betting and gaming fraternity, to take a moment to consider how each of you can help to raise awareness and money for men’s health, including research and treatment of prostate and testicular cancer.

But ladies, this need not be a one-sided affair. You may not go to the lengths of famous gambler Eleanor Dumont (alias Madame Moustache) but your support - financial, emotional and psychological - is required and welcomed.

For the last three years I and some of my colleagues and friends in the gaming industry have nurtured a moustache throughout the month of ‘Movember’ in support of this great cause so I am making a plea that all of you who can, do try to join in - either by growing a Mo or supporting someone who is.

It is, on a moral level, the right thing to do but we all suffer from vanity so it may help to remember the words of celebrated German philosopher Martin Heidegger: "my moustache brings all the boys to the yard, and they're like it's better than yours, damn right it's better than yours".

Join our Movember team or set up your own and help change the face of men's health.
