Entain is the most recent major operator to look eastwards for growth as regulation and mature western markets get harder to grow in. For all the growth prospects, however, CEE markets also present specific challenges. Jake Pollard investigates.
THE online gambling markets of eastern Europe may not be as significant as those on the western side of the continent, but they have been developing strongly in recent years.
The adoption of new regulations and legislative frameworks in the biggest markets in the region - think Poland, Romania or Czech Republic, along with similar regulatory developments in the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia or Estonia - have played an important role in enabling the industry to grow in the region.
