Senior .NET Backend Developer – Sportsbook Platform (Remote, Europe)

Full-time | Remote (Europe) | 100% B2B Contract | Salary DOE

We’re looking for a Senior .NET Backend Developer to join a high-impact engineering team building one of the most demanding real-time sportsbook platforms on the market. If you’re passionate about distributed systems, performance-driven backend engineering, and have experience working in sports betting or complex, event-based systems, this is the right opportunity.

About the Role:

You’ll be part of a remote-first team developing the core features that power a modern sportsbook, including trading engines, odds services, and high-availability APIs. This role is hands-on and backend-focused — no frontend work involved — with a strong emphasis on scale, real-time processing, and clean architecture.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Build high-performance services using .NET Core 8/9
Develop and maintain scalable RESTful and gRPC APIs
Work with Microsoft Orleans for distributed application development
Integrate Apache Pulsar for real-time message streaming
Design performant data solutions using SQL Server and PostgreSQL
Optimize systems for low latency, fault tolerance, and high concurrency
Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with developers, DevOps, and product managers
Review code, ensure testing coverage, and contribute to improving development practices
Triage and resolve production issues in a fast-paced environment

What You Bring:

5+ years of experience working with .NET (C#) in backend environments
Strong understanding of distributed systems, messaging, and microservices
Experience with Microsoft Orleans or similar actor-based frameworks
Familiarity with Apache Pulsar, RabbitMQ, or Kafka
Proven experience with SQL databases, ORMs, and performance tuning
Solid grasp of CI/CD, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in a remote setup

Bonus Points For:

Direct experience in sportsbook, betting, or trading system development — strongly preferred
Understanding of betting mechanics, odds calculations, and market types
Familiarity with compliance and uptime standards for gaming environments
Certifications (Microsoft, AWS, etc.) or contributions to open-source projects

What We Offer:

Long-term engagement with a rapidly growing tech organisation
Fully remote setup within European time zones (flexible hours around CET)
Competitive salary package depending on experience and location
B2B Contract | Equipment budget | Health insurance (where applicable)
Learning & development budget, professional certifications
Fast-paced, collaborative team culture with clear ownership and autonomy
