Quiet on the first day, but this is a large and important exhibition, especially in view of the current exciting developments in Italy.
However - and we have asked this question about Spain in the past - does Italy really need two shows? In Spain the situation evolved in such a way that the Madrid show is now the country's international event and Malaga is its domestic showcase. Italy could well go the same way, with Rome taking the Madrid role and Rimini the Malaga, especially in view of its difficult access for foreign visitors.
Some companies' stands seemed constantly packed, but more exhibited wide open spaces. At the entrance were the big boys - the VLT concessionaires and the major manufacturers who are being instrumental in supplying them. It is true that the amusement game manufacturers are taking a hit because operators are saving their cash for VLTs and, to a lesser extent, AWPs, but the presence of large stands from the likes of Faro Games, Dedem and Elmac showed that amusement is far from dead in the water in the Italian market.
