For visitors to the Irish Gaming Show, formerly known as AmEx, the attraction of the Dublin event is not only in the opportunity to do business. Companies have stayed loyal to the exhibition because it provides good value for money, it’s not too hard to get to and it is a chance to get together for a couple of great nights out.
Often exhibitors have been overheard explaining that they will have pre-sold most of the stock on their stands before attending so that they can kill two birds with one stone. It is certainly common knowledge that a lot of the business is conducted in the bar, and why not? After the large, formal London shows, Dublin is cozy and familiar.
This year, however, the bar seemed a little empty (at least until Happy Hour) and the show appeared quieter than normal.
The Dublin show is split into two clear camps; there is the amusement product and then there is casino-style slot machine product. The archaic legislation that covers gaming has led to a self-regulated environment, which seems to work for all concerned. Gaming legislation is still in the process of being passed, however it is difficult to say whether this will give the sector a boost or lead to interference with the status quo…
A selection of images from the show can be viewed below and there will be more on the Irish Gaming Show in the April issue of InterGame.
