G2E Asia 2011

The Venetian Macau – China

Event Information

The buzz is back in Asia. After a couple of G2E Asia trade shows in Macau that seemed a bit flat, 2011 got the train back on the track.

After a slow start, the first day saw a healthy attendance. It is not an exhibition that is ever going to be packed because the market is one which is dominated by a handful of the world's biggest operators, but the aisles were free of the desertion of recent events.

There was a feeling in some quarters that the show was becoming more of an international gathering rather than merely an Asian one. This, however, could have been due to the fact that visitors from outside Asia were using the event to tag on a visit to the amazing new Galaxy resort in Macau.

Whatever. The fact is that the 20 or so exhibitors I spoke to on day one had no complaints and there was a feeling that last year's Singapore openings, the recent launch of Galaxy and the optimism generated in locations such as the Philippines and Vietnam had combined to give the region its mojo back.
