Zip line popularity in North America flourishes as three further projects are planned

Zipline

Operator Northshore Zipline is seeking a special use permit for a 13-acre zipline project in Haiku on the island of Maui in Hawaii.

Eight lines are planned for the Jaws Zipline attraction, from 260 to 1,750ft in length and 10 to 140ft in height.

Back on the US mainland, Zipline Kingdom - An Adventure at Jefferson Memorial Forest is scheduled to open later this year in the state of Kentucky.

Operator Kentucky Kingdom is in final stages of talks with Louisville Metro Parks to kick-start the attraction, which had previously been in the hands of another firm that had decided against continued operation.

As well as ziplines, there are a number of other activities available to visitors, including swings, bridges and rope ladders.

Further north, the city of Nanaimo in British Columbia, Canada, may see the return of a previously popular attraction in its Maffeo Sutton Park.

A zipline had run from the park over the Swy-A-Lana Lagoon and city officials are calling for prospective operators to bid for it’s re-opening.

The 400ft line has been removed, but the infrastructure remains intact.
