A winter tourist boost is expected at UK seaside resort Scarborough this year from a festival that will include a major funfair and Blackpool-style lighting effects right across the town.
Scarborough Lights will see the effects installed around the harbour area and the spa as part of the revived ancient tradition of Scarborough Fair, hopefully contributing to making the resort into a year-round destination.
The festival will launch in mid-November and continue until Christmas, with 15 events and artworks at 13 venues, with the funfair central to the plans. Financial support for the project has come from the £1.2m Government’s Towns Fund.
