The UK’s largest bookmaker, William Hill, has completed the acquisitions of several key assets in the US.

The company has completed the acquisition of American Wagering, Brandywine Bookmaking and the racing and sportsbook assets of Sierra Developments, trading as Cal Neva. The transaction is estimated to be worth around $49m.

The news comes just days after William Hill and its senior managers were granted non-restricted gaming licences by the Nevada Gaming Commission.

Speaking after the company received regulatory approval, CEO Ralph Topping said the way was now clear for William Hill to establish its first ever US operation.

“We will now bring together these three businesses to create a leading position in the Nevada sports betting market, combining our brand and product range with AWI's, Brandywine's and Cal Neva's extensive Nevada footprint, strong local relationships and trusted service,” he said. “We look forward to working with our new colleagues to grow a leadership position in the Nevada sports betting industry and beyond."
