Peter Weir has been appointed to take charge of the development and testing of product for the UK's Independent Operators Association.
The association is a banding together of all of the smaller operators in Britain and collectively, they control over 30,000 pieces of equipment in the market.
Weir, formerly commercial director at Leisure Link - once the largest operator in the country but which sold out its operating division - will also serve as the IOA’s interface between members and suppliers.
IOA chairman John Powell said that the organisation had set out a ‘clear strategic development path for the group’ and that Weir would play an important role in that. "In what are undoubtedly challenging times for the industry I am pleased to say that we are continuing to retain and win new business by delivering our customers a combination of excellent service and the best products available."
Weir is also a director of Town and Country Leisure, an operator, a role he will continue.
