VRstudios, a provider of free-roaming, multiplayer virtual reality solutions, announced VRcade Powerplay, an arena-scale VR game designed specifically for location-based amusement sites.

VRstudios introduces Powerplay amusement

The company described the game as an “intensely athletic team e-sport played in free-roaming VR.” It is designed to be played by two to eight customers on a 60ftx40ft arena.

The game encourages customers to play smart, incorporating competitive strategies and teamwork with spectators also being engaged by the live-action gameplay. “Everyone recognises that e-sports are increasingly popular and we believe that the release of VRcade Powerplay is literally a game-changer,” said Kevin Vitale, VRstudios’ CEO.

Chanel Summers, vice president of creative development explained the game combines a retro game aesthetic with a futuristic battlefield.

“By design, the players quickly forget that they are in a virtual experience and move naturally in all the same ways that they would on a real-world playing field, including running, ducking, and jumping to beat the competition.”
