It was all about video lottery terminals at Prague's World of Entertainment show last week.
There are currently around 15,000 on the Czech market and this number looks set to rise with players enjoying the high stakes and prizes. Avangard’s managing director, Ivan Zoumpalov, told InterGame: "There is a great tendency for VLTs and now an enormous growth of them with 95 per cent of the street market being VLTs."
Speaking to InterGame at the show however, many of the exhibitors felt that operators aren’t as big of fans of VLTs as players are. On Novomatic’s stand, sales director of EDP Jan Zelko said: "The lifespan of play on an AWP is longer than a VLT."
Also commenting, Merkur Casino’s Jitka Krupickova said: "VLTs are very popular here in the Czech Republic. Operators say this isn’t good but you have to adapt to player trends."
