Ventola Projects, the specialist in electrical and lighting installations, has been named Department for Business Trade Export Champion for the eighth successive year.

The UK-based company’s successes include lighting projects across the US, UAE, Germany and Saudi Arabia.

The department has conducted a case study on the Ventola business as a result, including its appearance at the IAAPA show in the US where Ventola now has a Tennessee offshoot.

"IAAPA was a very good expo for Ventola,” said managing director Mick Ventola. “I’d like to thank the DBT for all it did to assist and how proud we were to be associated with the UK Pavilion. The Americans love face-to-face contact and being a stand partner with the UK government presents the business as part of a much bigger picture.”

He added that leaving the EU and agreeing new trading agreements in the US has been a positive move. “We actively sell to seven of the eight US states who have an MOU in place. Life has got easier dealing with the Americans, because when you’re negotiating new contracts with prospective clients, they are very reassured to know that there is a high-level, closer trading relationship in place between their locality and the UK government. It can make a significant difference in sealing the deal.

“The consulate and the embassy services are second to none, considering that it’s a free service that many people don’t even know exists. From simply sending an e-mail, to somebody from the embassy joining an introductory team meeting - it's often helped win the contract. When the British government is involved, it just removes all the barriers straight away.”
