A new ride called The Big Bear Rollercoaster, said by WCYB to be the biggest ever single attraction investment in the park, will open this Spring and it is 3,900ft long, which is nearly three-quarters of a mile.

The Big Bear Rollercoaster is part of a $500m expansion originally announced by Parton and Dollywood president Eugene Naughton in 2021. The expansion also includes Dollywood's 302-room HeartSong Lodge & Resort, scheduled to open later this year.

VP of maintenance and construction Barry Stiltner said of the upcoming Big Bear Rollercoaster: “The best part of the attraction, is going under the waterfall, that’s the first time we've done that. So I think that’s going to be another element we can add to our portfolio with the rides.”

Dolly Parton herself will be visiting the park in the coming weeks, when she will announce official opening dates for the latest attractions at Dollywood.

The country music legend co-owns the park, located in Tennessee's Knoxville area, with Herschend Family Entertainment.
