The first 4D fully immersive virtual reality venue in the UK will open in Birmingham, England, in 2021.

Atmos VR

Atmos VR announced that the new location will be in the city’s Digbeth area and that there are eight similar projects planned for other parts of the UK after the company had secured £1m in investment to expand its B2B credentials.

The free-roaming interactive game will provide facilities for restricted numbers of players in socially-distanced entertainment across one-hour shows. The 4D effects could include moving floors and the ability to pick up and touch virtual objects in the game. Players will also be able to sense things around them and smell the atmosphere.

Company founder, Kevin Blair, who has military and commercial expertise in VR, has spent three years perfecting the concept.

“Atmos VR aims to bring creative content to life using the latest immersive technology, constantly evolving VR and beyond and pushing the experiential boundaries of immersive experiences,” said Blair.

He noted that over the next five years, further locations will be opened in Tyne and Wear, Yorkshire, Merseyside, Glasgow, Cardiff and the South-East of England.
