A cashless payments app for the UK’s AWP industry was launched at the ACOS show at London’s Olympia, by a new company specially created to bring it to market. On the booth of Game Payment Technology, visitors to the show could see a demonstration of the new technology.

Greg Wood, who represents the trade association, BACTA, that has 51 per cent of the shares in the new company, showed the progress made in developing the industry’s cashless payments app.

The association has a Cashless Committee, that Wood heads. The app uses Near Field Communication to transfer money from the players’ digital wallet on to the gaming machine with winnings going straight back on to the phone.

Wood was confident following what was a really strong debut showing. He said: “The feedback has been very positive with a number of influential operators seeking to sign up straight away and I should add that we’ve even fielded strong interest from industry sectors based outside of the UK which augurs well.”
