Following the introduction of the UK Gambling Act in September last year, Kevin Weir of distributor Electrocoin has told InterGame that the company will be focusing strongly on the family entertainment centre market.
Speaking at the ATEI show in January, he said: “Some tough decisions have had to be made. FECs are currently growing in numbers and products are performing well when located in them.”
Weir, along with Gary Stern of Stern Pinball, whose products are distributed by Electrocoin, also commented that they have seen a rise in the popularity of pinball games recently.
“The UK Gambling Act has had a massive influence on the increased numbers of pinball machines in UK locations,” said Stern.
“Operators and pub owners are taking some types of games and machines out and looking for something different to replace them with in the hope of attracting customers.
“The pinball machine with its tournament play element is a great product for this as a lot of the games you can play in pubs you can also play at home.”
