The reopening of the UK’s amusement and gaming machine locations looks set to be a fragmented process.

The four national governments in the UK all have fractionally different views. In England, adult gaming centres can reopen on June 15, but no go-ahead has yet been given for family entertainment centres. Operators are hoping for some favourable news when the next round of announcements on release from lockdown comes later next week.
It will not be before July 4, interested parties have been told, although some companies are planning for that date even though without confirmation.
The seasonal business – FECs around English coasts – may be encouraged by news that an extra bank holiday is a possibility, after a sympathetic backing was given by the relevant government ministry. It is not clear whether governments in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will agree, but it is likely and will hopefully happen in late September or early October.
