The UK branch of the International Association of Trampoline Parks has issued a statement pointing out the importance of exercise for children.

“We recognise the unique challenge provided by the Covid-19 pandemic and the difficult decisions facing the government. We are concerned that Indoor trampoline parks, along with other leisure and sporting facilities have closed once again in England in the recently announced lockdown and the impact this will have on both our industry and the wider public.

“Exercise is essential to the battle with Covid-19 supporting physical and mental health and wellbeing. Loss of access to exercise facilities will damage activity levels once again, as proven by the Sport England analysis that evidenced a demonstrable drop in activity levels in the first lockdown. This will now be exacerbated by the fact that we have moved into the winter months where outdoor activity is both less appealing and less accessible. This lack of access to physical activity should be of huge concern to all.

“Indoor trampoline parks contribute directly to the health and wellbeing of adult and young people and the loss of these facilities will damage the activity levels of users. The operations of trampoline parks promote social distancing and our members have been extremely proactive and diligent in ensuring facilities operate in a Covid-safe manner. Being physically active continues to be essential to the UK’s recovery from Covid-19, and indoor trampoline parks are safe facilities to access this.”
