When the lockdown in England is over on December 4, new tiers will be introduced locally to control movement.

Coronoa, arcades

Which parts of the country will come under those controls will be announced later this week, with local authorities having the power to enforce the regulations in their own area.

Adult gaming centres and FECs will have to close if they are inside Tier 3 areas, together with casinos, bingo halls, bowling centres and other hospitality venues, although betting offices are permitted to stay open. They will be controlled in terms of the length of stay-time and only two of their machines will be switched on.

There will be a curfew for pubs and for amusement arcades, making them close their doors at 11pm.

Tier 1 will also see the 11pm closure for arcades, bowling, casinos, cinemas, theme parks, bingo halls and other entertainment venues but public attendance will be permitted to events at 50 per cent capacity.

Tier 2 will bring in the closure of pubs unless operating as restaurants and the arcades and other entertainment venues will be subject to the early closing rule.

Under Tier 3 all hospitality will be closed except for takeaway food. Indoor entertainment venues will have to shut down, including soft play centres, trampolining, casinos, bingo, bowling, skating, arcades, AGCs, laser tag and cinemas.

Meanwhile, talks are progressing between the governments of all four countries of the UK over common Christmas period rules.
