The president of Queensland Amusement Machine Operators’ Association, Tony Argery, tells Ian Donegan about the challenges facing the Australian industry.

WITH nearly 40 years’ experience in the Australian industry, three sites in Brisbane, Queensland, and as the president of the Queensland Amusement Machine Operators’ Association, there are few people who know the sector as well as Tony Argery.

He started in the sector as a street operator in 1982, adding video arcade games like Ghosts and Goblins and Wonderboy to his takeaway shops. While he had heard these machines were popular he was surprised by their instant success.
