UK Hospitality went on record this week with its fears for the wider hospitality industry this summer, forecasting many will struggle for staff.

It was backed by the Office for National Statistics that said the level of vacancies in the hospitality sector was running at 48 per cent above that of pre-Covid times.

Said UK Hospitality CEO Kate Nicholls: "The workforce shortage is creating a serious crisis as we head deeper into the peak summer season. Nearly half of businesses are reducing trading hours per day and a third are having to close on some days each week."

This week Deloitte said that this year, disruptions due to staff shortages, underpinned by high inflation, would likely increase and last beyond 2025.
