An increase of 15 per cent has been registered in amounts played into AWP machines, on betting and in casinos in the Community of Madrid, Spain, in the past year.

The Spanish province has recorded on its web site statistics which may indicate some recovery in the Spanish economy – at least in the community which houses the Spanish capital.
Years of flat results have been followed by a jump in the figures for 2014. In casinos stakes totalled €466m in 2011, fell in both of the following years but recovered strongly in 2014 to €544m. In bingo there has been a constant decline, from €417m in 2011 to €365m in 2014.
AWP machines went from €2.1bn in 2011 to €2.3bn in the same period. Betting rose from €152m to €255m. Turnover from all forms of betting rose from €3.1bn to €3.6bn.
The community has two casinos, 46 bingo halls, just over 1,000 operators and the total number of AWP machines stands at 22,736. It has 286 arcades and 16,731 pubs or bars containing machines.
