UK-based jukebox manufacturer Sound Leisure is aiming to bring more choice to the end user and more revenue opportunities to the operator through an agreement with Last.fm.
Last.fm is a music recommendation service in the UK, which helps people discover more music based on the songs they like and play through registering an account.
All Sound Leisure’s VenueHub jukeboxes will now include The Scrobbler and Scrobbling feature, which records the music played and sends the information to Last.fm to store, helping customers quickly find music they like, along with recommendations, when revisiting the jukebox. It is a quick and easy way for the end user to access the music they like and Sound Leisure’s Mike Black told InterGame: “We are always looking for features to try and up-sell tracks. Users can check in on the jukebox using this service and it also lists music events in the area that might be of interest. The venue can also set up a Last.fm account in the background as a way of tracking which music is proving popular.”
Sound Leisure has also introduced the Music Spider feature, which also provides a quick and easy recommendation service. The idea is that a customer will type an artist's name into the Music Spider and it will then come back with various other artists that might be of interest. From there the user can click on a second artist to generate more suggestions and so on.
