Major Saudi operator Al Othaim has opened its latest Snow City park in the City Stars Mall in Cairo, Egypt.
The 5,000sq.m location offers toboggan rides, rope course, ladder way and a fantasy ice igloo with panoramic suspension bridge. There are also ice bumper cars, sleighs and a ski zone, climbing wall, snowmobiles and other activities.
It is the first real snow experience for Egypt, but is only one of a crop of fresh openings for Al Othaim. The company is about to open its first Xtremeland in the Mall of Qatar, Doha. It will have a focus on play and learning for all age groups, including two-way activities to help child development.
The location covers 6000sq.m and contains a roller coaster, 7D theatre, giant slide, other rides, trampoline park and a giant inflatable. There will be a three-storey soft play area capable of accommodating 100 children at a time.
In Saudi Arabia the company has opened one of its Saffori Land FECs in the Arar Mall, covering 5,000sq.m and has a wide variety of games and rides all linked by an Intercard system. Another Saffori Land was opened in Hail and one more in Unaizah. There is also a new Faby Land in the Al Rashid Mall in Abha. More openings in Egypt include a Faby Land at Porto Cairo, with severeal new rides and attractions and a My Town at City Stars Mall in Cairo.
During the recent RECon MENA trade show and conference held in Dubai, Al Othaim won a silver award for the design of its Faby Land in the Best Retail Store Design category and a gold for Snow City for the Best Retail Store Design, plus a silver in Marketing the Best Grand Launch. Another prestigious award was the Most Admired Retailer of the Year, for its Faby Land concept at the Retail ME Awards in October.
