A well-known name from the US industry’s past has joined pinball specialist Stern: Doug Skor has become the company’s director of export sales.

He is the son of Fred Skor, who for many years ran World Wide Distributing out of Chicago and who was a regular visitor to many European trade shows in the 1970s and 1980s.

Gary Stern commented: “Stern’s business has grown and is growing tremendously – in terrestrial pinball, digital pinball, accessories and merchandise, and events. We have added management and staff in all areas of our company to ensure its future success. Doug joining us is a great addition to our team to fulfil our vision as a world-class global lifestyle brand.

“I have a long and great relationship with the Skor family. Their World Wide Distributing was my father’s customer from the 1940s.  Doug and I have been friends since he was a young man and I was only middle aged. Professionally, I have watched his work in the game industry over decades.”

Skor will handle the day-to-day export business. Stern was keen to emphasise that he was not retiring from the export sales area. “Our business has grown to the degree that I cannot fulfil my CEO duties and be responsive regularly to our export customers. I will still be involved with the export markets and always available for our export customers.”

Skor had previously worked as vice president of World Wide Distributing, president of Deutsche Wurlitzer USA, vice president of EDC Gaming and vice president of Chicago Gaming Company.
