In the UK, an illegal supplier of gaming machines has been jailed following a Gambling Commission investigation into the supply of so-called ‘skillette’ machines.

On October 3, Mr Kevin Holleran was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to eight months imprisonment, disqualified from acting as a director for five years and ordered to pay £120,000 towards legal costs.

The court also ordered the destruction of the machines seized as part of the investigations.

Earlier this year the Commission highlighted the position of skillette gaming machines to its local enforcement partners in local authorities. Variants of the skillette include Grand Prix Racer, Stop the Clock, Alien Invasion and Skill Stop Roulette.

“This case demonstrates the Gambling Commission’s resolve in pursuing cases where criminals profit from the illegal supply of gaming machines,” said Nick Tofiluk, director or regulatory operations at the Gambling Commission. “Mr Holleran is paying the price for persisting in supplying hundreds of skillette machines despite the Commission making its concerns clear.”
