UK-based independent operator Select Gaming has recently launched its own contactless payments system for pool tables.

The new system, designed and manufactured by 501 Entertainment, is the first of its kind to utilise a standard pool table battery pack and includes a raft of unique features, including a player queuing system, manager selectable free play and variable/bonus pricing. The system can be retrofitted to any battery-powered pool table.
“The system offers contactless pool without the normal drawbacks of requiring either mains power or a battery pack that requires daily/bi-daily charging,” said Jonathan Powell, director of Select Gaming.
“Furthermore, the system enables multiple players to prepay for pool and be ‘queued’, much like a modern day take on stacking £1 coins along the edge of the table. Additionally, the system features a free play function and the ability to set variable and bonus pricing.”
Powell continued: “We were dubious when contactless pool initially started appearing and we were told by several suppliers that conventional battery power was impossible. We decided to partner with 501 Entertainment who quickly provided a fantastic system. We currently have a full order book with tables going as far afield as Edinburgh, from our main depot in Kent.
“We are looking forward to working with our customers to roll-out our cutting-edge system and to further enhance pool table revenues over the coming months.”
