Following recent inroads into the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, it is thought Sega could be making a second attempt at entering the Indian amusement market following talks with DLF, a real estate company, on the development of indoor gaming complexes.

Commenting on the company’s talks with the gaming giant, DLF group executive director Rajeev Talwer said: "We had talks with Sega when some of its senior executives were in India and we have understood their business models across different geographies. However, no decision has been taken on what we would do with Sega in India and our business model."

Sega first made steps into India in 1994. However, the company shut down its operations as the gaming business did not take off.

DLF has the largest land bank in India and it is thought that it is likely to offer land to Sega, which will bring its domain expertise to the table. One hundred per cent foreign direct investment is allowed through the automatic route in theme parks and amusement parks projects in the country.
