Theme park operator Flamingo Land will next month reopen the Alpamare water park at Scarborough, UK, that shut down last November.

Alpamare was opened in 1916 by Benchmark Leisure but the operator went into administration at the end of last year.

Scarborough Council had advanced Benchmark £9m in loans to keep its doors open and North Yorkshire Council has now granted a contract to Flamingo Land to operate it.

Flamingo Land is a popular tourist attraction 30 miles inland from Scarborough. It is now working to get the water park ready for the main school holidays.
