The trade associations representing the amusement and gaming industry in the UK have joined together for the Safer Gambling Week that began on Monday of this week and runs through to Friday.

Bacta, the Betting and Gaming Council, the Lotteries Councll and the Bingo Association are all signatories to the event.

The objective is to encourage people to talk and take action to gamble responsibly. The Safter Gambling Week is now in its eighth year.

A succession of safer gambling messages are being put out on the Safer Gambling Week website and in land-based venues to bring about a conversation on the subject across the country.

George McGregor (pictured), Bacta’s executive director (government relations), believes the initiative continues to make a significant contribution to the industry’s endeavours to reduce further the incidence of problem gambling.

He stated: “The first point to make is that Safer Gambling Week draws attention to what Bacta members are practising every week and every day of the year. This commitment and culture is something of which every Bacta member should be extremely proud.

The consumer-facing Safer Gambling website poses a series of questions to consider and outlines how to use gambling tools such as setting time and deposit limits and how to self-exclude from gambling.”
