Cruise line operator Royal Caribbean has announced a 58-day, US$165m transformation to its Allure of the Seas ship.

Like many of today’s cruise liners, entertainment and amusement attractions feature heavily.
The 10-storey Ultimate Abyss will be the tallest slide at sea, while a wetter sliding experience will be offered by The Perfect Storm, a trio of waterslides, Typhoon, Cyclone and Supercell. A water attraction for younger guests, Splashaway Bay, will feature twin drench buckets, three waterslides, fountains, pools, water cannons and a splash pad.
The all-new Adventure Ocean is an area where younger children can enjoy immersive adventure. Interactive and personalised activities feature in areas redesigned from scratch, including rooms with climbable creations at Play Place, hands-on art, science and tech at Workshop and physical, interactive games at Arena. The Hangout offers gaming consoles for teens, while AO Babies offers three to five-year-olds experiential activities in a multipurpose space.
Glow-in-the-dark laser tag makes an appearance in Clash for the Crystal City, as does an escape room, Apollo 18: Lunar Landing.
Adults will be catered for in the The Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade.
Allure will open its season of seven-night western Mediterranean cruises from its homeport of Barcelona, Spain, on May 10, 2020.
