It also has a renovated American-style diner with classic dishes and its amusement area has been revamped to offer the latest video and redemption games.

Company CEO Stephen Burns, said: “The venue has undergone a significant transformation and we have been able to coincide its launch with the reopening of our UK bowling centres.

“We are committed to providing Covid-secure, safe and value entertainment and can demonstrate that the fun does not stop at the lanes. Our technology, advanced lighting and the diner and bar make our Carlisle centre a great example of the latest-generation Hollywood Bowl.”

The opening has also coincided with the introduction of extensive cleaning and social distancing measures. Booking slots will be less frequent to control capacity, with only alternate lanes in use and amusement machines and the bar and dining areas will be spaced out.

Guests are encouraged to pre-book games and groups will be restricted to a maximum of six per lane. They will have to wear their own bowling-appropriate shoes and can have the option of wearing disposable gloves.
