The Theatre of the Arcade has made a reappearance at the New York Fringe Festival.

The production, which was a hit of The Brick Theatre’s 2010 Game Play festival,  is a collection of short plays that explore what happens when stories born of the video arcade are dramatised.

Five classic games are retold in an unconventional yet entertaining manner, including Monologue For Single Player, referencing Frogger; The Alabaster Nymph, which references Donkey Kong; Der Rundegelbenimmersatt, which retells Pac-Man; Magdalena, Magellans, Mars, which is an intepretation of Asteroids and finally Savage Of The Heart, which features characters Mario and Luigi.

According to an online review: "The Theatre Of The Arcade is the gold standard that anyone wishing to explore video games in a different medium, not just the stage, should observe and take home lessons from."
