Voltas has won the contract to install mechanical, electrical and plumbing works for the upcoming Qiddiya water park in Saudi Arabia.

Qiddiya Water Park

Works are set to cost SAR428m (US$113.8m) to install and supply the park, which is being backed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

Set to be located in Riyadh, the park promises to offer one-of-a-kind immersion, innovation and unique experiences.

Expected to be completed by October 2024, the project forms part of the country’s goal to establish itself as a tourist destination and reduce its economy’s reliance on oil. It will cover 252,000sq.m and will contain 22 rides and attractions, including nine that will be world’s firsts.

Rides have been designed to use 75 per cent less water than those found in other water parks and the site will use treated rainwater to irrigate the venue.

Pradeep Bakshi, managing director and CEO of Voltas, told constructionweeklyonline.com that he was delighted to win such a prestigious contract and that the project will provide numerous opportunities over the coming years.
